A tubular exhaust manifold (header) is an optimized exhaust component designed to improve exhaust gas flow through precisely tuned pipe lengths and diameters. This reduces residual exhaust gases in the cylinders and improves cylinder filling. As a result, engine performance and torque increase, the engine runs more smoothly, and fuel consumption can decrease. The effect is based on principles such as interference, pressure waves, and the Venturi effect. Noticeable power gains usually require combining the header with a matched exhaust system rather than installing it on an otherwise stock vehicle.
